London Natural History Society - The place for wildlife in London

TheThe LNHS and GiGL have a crowd sourcing project: transcribing the London Bird Records from the 1970s.

We have images of the Recorders' cards for these years listing all the sightings of birds submitted by LNHS members, and we want to turn them into a searchable database. The records were summarised in the London Bird Reports, but there is much richer information, in terms of details of observations and comments on the cards which would be of interest to anyone researching the birds of London.

The project is here: https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/gigl/london-bird-records

You can try it out without signing up, but if you want to ask questions or make comments, then you have to log in.

Work on these records has been going on for the last ten years, but this is a new project, set up by Claire Stewart while she was at GiGL. Claire is now doing a doctorate at the University of Kent.
